Combine Astronomy and Navigation with your sailing holidays

Have you ever wondered how ships were sailing thousands of years ago in the very same oceans with us?

Fine, we know they were sailing with sails similar to ours or rowing. But what about Navigation? Let's have a look at The Odyssey :

Then in joy Odyeseus set sails

and seated with fine art he drove the ship

and neither he fall asleep, while Pulia

gazed and the Shephard, which rises late,

and the Beard, which is also called Shay,

and always looking at the Hunter wanders,

and alone does not admire the Ocean's wave.

Because the nereid told him this star to have

on his left hand while sailing..

Someone who was aware of astronomy could sail day and night. It was not necessary to have thousands of satellites in space and radio waves in the atmosphere to arrive at your destination; simply obtain a sextant and learn the stars without using electrical power.

During your sailing holidays with EY+ you can approach Astronomy in  a different way. Some may think that "Oh, I just want to relax and forget anything about education", but those who are still willing to learn can look at the planets and stars from our telescope. On a beach, at the port or even after hiking our physicist and expert in Astronomy EY+ partner will set up a telescope and talk you about this magic flashing world. You will take an idea about the principles of astronomy and astro-navigation, familiriaze with sextant and sail with it. If you want you could book your holidays around the 12-13/08/2016 to admire the Perseides or the famous fullmoon of August (astronomical programme).
